Tips and Advice

Planning a hen party can be a daunting prospect, especially when you are planning a hen weekend for a group of girls, some of whom you may never have even met before!

To help relive some of the stress, check out our key steps to a successful hen party and hen party organisers tips.

Step One

Decide on who is going to be the main hen party organiser or organisers.

From past experience it is always best to nominate one or two (maximum) hen party organisers. Too many cooks spoilt the broth as they say and this is soooooo true! Make sure that hen party guests are informed of who is in charge to avoid any conflicts early on – this includes the mother of the bride !

Step Two

Decide who to invite

Typically the hen party group includes:

Definites
These are the people the bride wants on the hen do no matter what, including you! When trying to work out dates etc make sure all of these girls can attend as they are the people that really count!

Possibles
This will include people who the hen hasn’t seen for a while, family or friends of the groom who the hen may not really want there or through commitments such as work or babysitters may mean they may not be able to attend!

Have to Ask People
Many bride’s to be these days feel they should invite their prospective mother- in-law, mother’s friends or auntie’s, even though they would secretly rather hope that they didn’t attend so she can let her hair down and enjoy the hen party experience to the full!

Definitely No’s
Occasionally, the bride in question may have a couple of names who would one day have made the ‘Have To’ Ask’ list, but now, for reasons of violence, betrayal or suspected wrong-doing, are as welcome as a nun in a brothel! When underlining these names, the determined but diplomatic bride will probably suggest picking a date or venue that this person will not be able to make, thereby again making it seem to the aforementioned undesirable that they had been invited when in fact they were never on the agenda.

Step Three

Decide where to have the hen party

Well of course it’s Marbella or Puerto Banus, as these are the top 2012 destinations where the hen is assured of having the most amazing time of her life!

Yes it is going to cost more than a hen party night in the UK but believe me it will be well worth it !

Find out what budget your hens are willing to spend. It is pointless organising a five star hotel and fun filled packed itinerary if most guests can’t afford it. It is your responsibility as the hen party organiser to put together a package that suits everyone’s taste and budget!

Step Four

Decide when to have the hen party

This largely depends on when the hen and her definites can go ie when everyone can take holiday. Although Marbella and Puerto Banus are holiday destinations, weekends are always busier and the key months are from Easter to the end of September, when all the bars, clubs, beach clubs and nightlife are in full swing and the sun is shining!

Step Five

Decide where to stay

Marbella and Puerto Banus have a wide range of accommodation options including hotels, aparthotels, villas, apartments and townhouses. Contact Hens in Marbella to find a venue that most suits your group’s requirements and budget.

Step Six

Decide what to do

A massive part of the success of your weekend will be not so much where you are as what you do. Commonly, the bride will suggest one or two things that she’s heard about or had recommended, but apart from that the itinerary will be in your hands. Make sure you book activities that everyone will be happy to join in, but more importantly that the hen will enjoy! Hens in Marbella has a wide range of day and night time activities to suit every taste and budget. Download our guide to see what’s in store! Past experience has taught us that it is always best to pre-arrange activities, then everyone knows what the agenda is each day. Step Seven

Marbella and Puerto Banus are fast becoming the top hen party destinations for 2012. Hens In Marbella Tips

Morning Activities
Experience has taught us that no matter, if you intend to have a night out and be up by 10am this is NEVER going to happen! In Spain the bars don’t get busy until after 11pm and clubs are open until 7am! So enjoy your day, take a disco nap and don’t go out too early. Enjoy your evening but don’t plan any morning activities until after 11am, by then you should be a bit more complus mentus!

Dining Out
Don’t make dinner reservations until after 8.30pm in summer months. We know from the thousands of hen groups that we have dealt with that catching some rays is of big importance and getting a large group of girls ready for a night out can take some time!! Allow yourselves plenty of time to get to pre-booked dinners. Restaurants will often only hold tables for 30 minutes so best to book them for a little later to give you enough time to make it on time!

Fancy Dress
Puerto Banus is a popular hen and stag party destination so hen and stag groups in fancy dress is a common sight. But please beware, only certain bars and clubs accept hen parties in fancy dress. Most of the top nightclubs do not. Ask us for advice before going out as we don’t want you to be disappointed by being turned away on a night out.

Drinks Prices
Puerto Banus is not cheap. A drink (e.g. vodka and orange) can cost around 10€, though the measures are huge!! Be careful how much you drink as one vodka and orange would be the equivalent of say 3 or 4 measures in the UK! To keep costs down, contact us to finds out about the great deals we have on offer ie our 3 hour free bar at top nightspot, exclusive shot glass that gets you a FREE shot in every participating bar every night and much more.

Previous Hen Party Organiser’s Tips

Keep your mobile on you 24/7
‘Make sure you take your mobile phone with you wherever you go. Itt is incredibly easy to lose stragglers as the night wears on. This way, everyone can at least find you.’

Party animals
‘If you want to have a really wild time, make sure all the people you invite are up for it. There’s nothing worse than asking someone along who’s going to sit there feeling out of it and looking disapproving — while you’re all downing vodka shots and playing dares.’

Keep your fellow hens in mind
‘Always match your activities to the people you have invited- not the other way round. If you really want your mum or auntie to come along, for instance, make sure you’re doing something that they are likely to join in, not something that’s going to cause them to feel embarrassed or want to go home!.

Plan activities before you arrive
´I recently organised a hen party for 15 girls and had only booked one activity before we arrived, as many girls wanted to see how it went when we got there. BIG mistake. Trying to find activities that everyone was happy to do was a nightmare and many activities could not be booked at a moment’s notice or were fully booked. We ended up wandering around not knowing what we were doing with a frustrated hen. Next time I will definitely pre-book all activities so everyone has an agenda to work to, avoiding any disagreements and upsets.
